A man with haunted eyes appears at Julie Ferguson's office and asks her to keep a package in her safe overnight. Recognizing him as Dale Lahrman, a friend of her late father, Julie agrees. While she is away from her office, an intruder breaks into her safe and steals the package, leaving a small golden trinket in its place. Before Julie can notify the police, an officer appears at her door. He tells her Lahrman has died under suspicious conditions. Lahrman's daughter, Cinda, arrives at Julie's office to find her father.
