Falcon of the deep

Falcon of the deep

A novel by

In 1932, the Third Reich's incredible rise under the leadership of Adolf Hitler was gaining momentum, transforming Post-war Germany into a super power. Our story begins with the tale of a fourteen year old boy, son of fishing magnate Heinrich Von Hausler. He is determined that his son Erich will have a solid grounding in his fishing empire, sending him to sea to learn how to fish. As Erich grows older the Third Reich flexes its muscles and he joins the Navy. After completing officer training his first posting takes him to South West Africa to quell a group of troublesome pirates. It is on this voyage he meets the love of his life, Heidi, daughter of the German Ambassador to Morocco and also his nemesis, Gestapo, agent Count Von Wanganheim.
As Hitler edges closer to war, Erich joins the U-Boat Division. Action comes thick and fast, his bravery and competency are rewarded when he is given command of U-Boat 109, Falcon of the deep. His pride knows no bounds but is tempered by what may lie ahead. U109 becomes the scourge of the Indian Ocean sinking a large number of allied ships. The hands of fate turn when his boat is sunk and he is interned in a POW camp located in West Australia.
He never relinquishes the desire to escape, but the odds of doing so from the Island Continent are almost insurmountable. He will need ingenuity, a large slice of luck and help from an unlikely source as he attempts to achieve the impossible. It has been said by the poets and romantics that love conquerors all. It is this all consuming love that drives Erich onwards to be reunited with Heidi. This is a story of death and destruction, tempered by an enduring love, hope and the reformation of a nation.
