Gemma has come from England to stay with her frail grandmother, who lives in the Oregon woods. Whilst shopping in the nearby town, Gemma gets into conversation with a lady called Sugar, who invites her to dinner at her home. There, she meets Sugar's ruggedly handsome brother, Grant. However, when her grandmother dies soon afterwards, Gemma learns that Grant's family has been pestering the old lady to sell them her land. Gemma now owns the property, but can she ever find happiness there?
