Sophie Cooke's first novel, The Glass House, was shortlisted for the Saltire First Book of the Year Award. After the publication of her second novel, Under The Mountain, Aesthetica magazine described Cooke as 'an important voice for this age'. Critics have drawn parallels between Sophie Cooke's writing and that of Virginia Woolf, as well as that of contemporary screenwriters such as Thomas Vinterberg. Cooke is also the award-winning author of numerous short stories, which have been published in anthologies and broadcast on BBC Radio.
