With roots in post-feudal Finland, Isaac Polvi's family had dreams of the new world. The family leaves twelve-year-old Isaac with relatives when they go to America. Abused where he was left, Isaac leaves and spends a year alone before the ticket arrives from America. He journeys to Calumet, Michigan, alone to rejoin his family.
