This is an exciting story about a girl from Wales out in California. Debra Craig hopes to find work to pay for her trip around America and soon after arriving in Santa Rosario she is fortunate to hear of a private detective who is looking for a secretary. By joining Dan Jelinski in his work, she takes a step into the murky world of the gangster, the world of the Mob. Dan accepts a commission to find Mario Peraggi and his deputy, Peter Harrison, who disappeared on their way to a casino about a month previously. Although Karen Peraggi insists that Mario, her husband, is only a business man, Dan knows that he is an important member of the Mob locally. In the course of their enquiries, Dan and Debra mix with very rich and very dangerous people. They make friends and enemies before they solve the mystery of the disappearance of the two men. The novel moves at a fast pace to its unexpected conclusion, holding your attention throughout. Written in an easy to read style with vocabulary at the back of the book, this novel would be suitable for both learners and Cymry Cymraeg.
