Sandra Evans

Sandra Evans is a writer and teacher from the Pacific Northwest. Her forthcoming middle grade novel, This is Not a Werewolf Story (Simon & Schuster July 2016), was inspired by her favorite 12th century French tale, Bisclavret, by Marie de France.

Born in Washington state, Sandra spent her childhood on U.S. Navy bases from Florida to Hawaii, and returned to the Northwest as a teenager. Since then, she has lived and traveled in France and Europe, but has never strayed far for long from the Puget Sound region.

When shes not in the classroom, Sandra is working on a YA novel that will reveal the historical and genetic roots of the magic that comes alive in the characters and landscape of This is Not a Werewolf Story. She shares her free time with her husband, son, and her dog Bingowalking on the beach, playing tennis, going to the YMCA, hanging out in bookstores, playing cards in coffee shops, and wandering through museums.

Sandra holds a Ph.D. in French Literature from the University of Washington, and her scholarship on the medieval French epic has appeared in the journals Speculum and Exemplaria. Over the years she has taught courses on medieval literature as well as French language and culture at the University of Washington, the University of Puget Sound, and the Université de Paul Valéry in Montpellier, France. She has given talks on St. Augustine, Marie de France, and various aspects of the medieval epic at the Western Humanities Alliance conference, the Medieval Association of the Pacific, and the International Congress on Medieval Studies.
