War does terrible things to people's minds. Conscripted Union soldier Ted Wells knew that only too well. The Civil War brought together this young soldier and the wild regular officer, Hank Newton. A trumped-up charge sparked off a running feud. It was only after the war had ended that Ted felt he could at last leave everything behind him. But fate took a hand and it wasn't long before their paths crossed again. Ted found in Hank an implacable enemy who vowed to hate him.
