On holiday in Spain, Moss Coen is mistakenly arrested. He tries to escape from police custody, but in the city of Burgos, birthplace of El Cid, evidence connects him with murder. Unable to converse in Spanish, he then encounters Isabel Hervada Arias who has her reasons for offering help... There are other victims, and Moss finds himself a target for the killer whose ruthless ambition has led to more than one kind of crime.
