He says he never planned to be an author and illustrator of children's books, it just happened. A small blue budgie flew into his garden one morning, stayed for a few days and then flew off again. He decided to stay home from work and write a story about it which became his first book, Pete and Roland. Bob likes his stories to be quiet and focused on small, seemingly insignificant events of family life. "The trick is to take everyday events and make them interesting to kids."
Bob Graham has two grown up children and two grandchildren and lives in Australia with his wife and various pets. He continues to create stories for children, ordinary and extraordinary, around the world.
