Hold the Line

(The second book in the Heroes of WW1 series)
A Novella by

Private Jenkins and his tank ‘Revenge’ face off against the impenetrable German defences as they join the assault against the infamous Messines Ridge.

The Messines Ridge commands the skyline, and has been heavily reinforced with trenches, bunkers, and tens of thousands of troops. The Allies have tried to take the ground many times before, and always failed. This time Australian and New Zealand infantry are poised to attack, and leading the way is a massed tank assault with the latest weapons of war, the deadly Mark IV Heavy Tank.

The tanks smash through defences, knocking down bunkers and running amok as they assist the infantry. But as night falls Revenge and two other tanks become stuck in the quagmire before the heavily defended ridge. With no way out, and the German massing for a counterattack, the tankers refuse to abandon their faithful machines, they decide to entrench the area. They must hold the line, no matter what the Germans throw at them.
