They say the pen is mightier than the sword...
Whichever idiot said that never had to defend themselves from supernatural creatures with a extra-fine microball in emerald green at 2 a.m.
But then no one ever warned me being a reporter would lead to me fighting for my life — and that of pretty much every other human on the planet — just because some handsome hunk of a businessman decided that I’d seen something I shouldn’t have. In all fairness, no one warned him — or me — that the more unique of my journalist skills (and I don’t mean my rapier wit) might be the key in determining the fate of humankind. But I guess that’s a little more likely in a town where creatures of legend have found their secret refuge from a threat to us all.

Concert previews, sports, investigative reporting, bake sales — Aurora Carmichael has covered it all as a reporter for the local newspaper in the idyllic seaside town of Mystic Beach. But she uncovers more than she bargained for — and more than she ever dreamed could be real — when she peers below the surface of a secretive community that’s sprung up right next door. Is this the exposé of her career, the chance of a lifetime, or will what she finds be the literal death of her and everything she holds dear?

This is the first book in the Mystic Beach Mysteries contemporary fantasy series, The Aurora Carmichael Chronicles. It has a rockstar romantasy sister-series, the Mystic Beach Fantasy Rockstar Romance series, which is also set in Mystic Beach and features overlapping characters and plot points. This book, Safe Harbour, takes place before Book 2 of the rockstar romantasy series, Dream Weaver, and includes events that set the stage for Book 3 in the rockstar romantasy series, Smoke on the Water.
