Til Duprey is under Crown protection, and is known as Marc Davies, Baron Blackston. Maeve is now called by her middle name, Eloise. They live outside of a small town on the Scottish border.

Til's father, Marcel, was contacted by an agent of the Third Reich. After meeting with the FBI and MI-5, Marcel Duprey, now Marcel Davies, is now part of the Double Cross system, working for the Reich, while really an agent for the Allies. After spending the run-up to America entering WWI as an agent for the Kaiser, he is now working for the British, and is quite happy about it after a member of the German American Bund had murdered his beloved wife five years before.

German Agents coming south through Scotland into Northumberland use Til's home, Black Oak Grange, as a way station. Will the family survive hiding in plain sight?
