Everyone knows the legend.
Julia Brown, a voodoo practitioner in the tiny Louisiana town of Frenier, was said to sing, "One day I'm going to die and take the whole town with me." When she died on September 29th, 1915, a devastating hurricane destroyed Frenier and Ruddock the same night.
History called her a curse.
History was wrong.
When journalist Avery Mack discovers Julia's lost journal, she follows its trail into the haunted swamps where Ruddock once stood. With local historian Claiborne Wood, whose family survived the storm, she uncovers a buried truth. Julia wasn't a witch. She was protecting the town from something far worse.
But when Julia died, so did the barrier holding it back.
Now, another storm is rising. People are vanishing, and something anient is stirring beneath the blackwater.
To stop history from repeating itself, Avery and Caliborne must uncover what really happened the night Julia Brown sang her final song, before the swamp takes everything again.
