Emma and Peter decide to visit Peter's personal hero, Winston Churchill. They plan to visit him before he becomes famous as Britain's great WW ll leader. They travel to South Africa in 1899 where twenty-five-year-old Churchill is serving as a journalist during the Boer War. He has been captured by the Boers and is being held as a prisoner of war.

The two young time travelers actually get to watch young Winston escape from his prison. They end up helping him in his escape as he attempts to cross Africa. In real life, Winston's escape made him famous and led to his winning his first political election. But when Emma and Peter return to their own time, they discover that their intervention has somehow changed history. According to the history books, Winston mysteriously disappeared early in the war. His disappearance led to Germany winning the war, changing world history forever.

Now, Emma must use her magic bracelet and all of her courage to track down Winston, rescue him, and somehow put history back on its rightful path. The stakes could not be higher.
