Whispers on Water is a Short Read - approximately 2 hours or more- in The Yankee Years series.

Ina small community news travels like whispers across water on a still summer's night. So how can a huge secret elude straining ears?

May 1943: After helping to foil suspected sabotage activity and an espionage attempt at the nearby American flying-boat base, Ruth Corey plans to steer clear of fifth columnists. But when her friend, Home Guard Robbie Hetherington is injured during an IRA raid on a police station, she is determined to find his attackers, especially since they have reclaimed a quantity of gelignite.

But, despite venturing onto a deep, cold lough in a very small boat, eavesdropping in pubs and tailing smugglers in the dark woods late at night, Ruth and her American sweetheart, Frank Longo are no closer to finding the IRA men or the gelignite.

The terrorists' trail is elusive and the answers Ruth is searching for lie beyond the boundaries of her world so she must cross the strict line dividing the province's two religious communities, a journey that will send ripples through her relationship with Frank and challenge some of her long held convictions.

Can Ruth find the Republican terrorists, before they use the gelignite, and avoid religious tensions coming between her and her sweetheart?

A tale for fans of Maggie Hope, Daisy Styles and Ellie Dean.
