Dogwood Donuts owner and amateur sleuth, Maggie Mission, has turned up the heat and is on top of her donut game. That is, until she has to head to a local clinic after burning her hand.
When she arrives, she witnesses a bit of drama among patients who are arguing over who should be seen first. One woman ends up just leaving to go to the ER.
Maggie finds out later that the woman died.
Considering the circumstances, she’s skeptical that the woman’s death was due to natural causes, and since she’s going to be out of work for a while, until her hand heals, she jumps into an investigation, determined to get to the truth.
Things take a wicked turn for the worst when it looks as though Maggie’s daughter-in-law, who is a nurse at the clinic, may have neglected her duties and contributed to the woman’s death.
When she starts digging further into the case, it becomes evident that there’s more going on than meets the eye.
