Dogwood Donuts owner and amateur sleuth, Maggie Mission, was delighted, sad, and puzzled, all at once when she left work and found a sweet doggie all alone behind her donut shop.
The odd thing? There was a wallet in the pup’s mouth.
It didn’t take much searching to find a phone number, which she then called, so that she could return the dog and the wallet, feeling glad that she was able to help.
Then she learned that the wallet belongs to a man who went missing 5 years ago. When other items relating to the missing man turn up, a case that had long been cold is reopened.
Maggie is perplexed when someone then comes into the donut shop claiming that she gave the dog to the wrong person. The situation becomes even more disturbing when a body is found.
Utterly at a loss and concerned not only about the dog, but about the missing person, she vows to get to the truth, before anything worse happens.
