Patty’s been fooled and there doesn’t seem to be an answer as to what she should do.

Patty Duffield was broke, living in a rundown tenement apartment on the wrong side of New York, without a thought for a way out of her circumstances. When her employer and her landlord begin making unwanted advances, she knows it’s time to get out. On a whim she buys the matrimonial times hoping it will hold an answer.

Over the next month, Patty falls deeper and deeper in love with Baxter Barnum. His letters are filled with eloquent words and heartfelt descriptions of the ranch on which he lives. When his proposal arrives, Patty knows in her heart that it’s her chance at happiness.

But when she arrives on the ranch in Ohio, Baxter is nothing like the man she thought him to be. Patty discovers it has all been a lie. Will she be forced to live a life brought about by deceit, or will her prayers be answered while there is still time to change the course of her fate?
