Chalene:
I met Jax the night he peeled my father off of me. If my brother and him hadn’t gotten home early I don’t know what would’ve happened.
He’s different than us. I’m not sure how he and my brother became friends. He’s beautiful, mysterious, well-spoken, and very, very rich.
He offers us solace at his house while we save for our own place and I’m a mess around him. He’s striking and addictive…and apparently always annoyed by me. So I thought. Until he kissed me.
There’s no way we would’ve worked, coming from different worlds, but now I don’t have to worry about it because he took the one good thing from me I had left. I don’t want him anymore.

Jax:
She’s moved on but I haven’t. She thinks I left, but I never did.
I’ve been there day and night for the past two years, lurking in the shadows; aching for her but vowing never bother her again. That is, until keeping that distance suddenly became harder. She just so happened to stumble into my family’s bar looking for a job, unknowing of the connection.
