Murder in the Shadows
(2020)(The second book in the Birchwood Academy Files series)
A novel by Jade Astor
With the murders at Birchwood Academy thankfully behind him, Darian Winter hopes to enjoy the rest of fall and winter working on his relationship with the unpredictable but undeniably sexy Sheriff Argo Sullivan. Things seem to be going perfectly until a near-tragedy causes him to reconsider everything he thought he knew about Argo and the connection between them.
A welcome diversion arrives in the form of Victor Reece, an actor who is making a gay-themed horror film on a nearby estate. Grateful for the distraction from his relationship woes, Darian agrees to volunteer on the set while he figures out a way to move forward with Argo. Unfortunately, the script isn’t the only source of horror once the production gets underway. Before he knows what’s happening, Darian discovers the body of another murder victim and finds himself in Argo’s orbit as a possible suspect yet again. Before Darian can prove his innocence a second time, a deadly blizzard traps him in the isolated house with the cast of the film, one of whom is most likely a killer. Even if he can solve this crime, too, he realizes he might not live long enough to win Argo back.
Note: This book follows The Birchwood Academy Files 1: Murder at Birchwood Pond, but can be read as a standalone.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
