This fire season, it’ll be their hearts catching sparks

As a Sierra hotshot firefighter, Logan ’Sonny’ Sonelli is used to getting burned, especially when it comes to love. Regardless of a smokey outlook, he’ll push ahead, looking for the good fires, until he can chuck it all away and get his lone cabin in the woods. What he doesn’t need is a new neighbor who’s sunny, pretty, and obsessed with foxes.

After a messy breakup from her longtime boyfriend, River Alfaro is ready to claim her newfound freedom in South Lake Tahoe. She can’t wait to revel in her independence for the first time in her life. As a wildlife behaviorist, the only thing that remains elusive to her goals is spotting the endangered red fox in the wild.

When River discovers her new neighbor is a wildland firefighter, she’s eager to ask for his advice in her search. Except the hot guy next door is also a grump who has no interest in helping her. Feeling pressured by the rest of his crew, Logan begrudgingly agrees, only to be reminded of all the connections he’s been missing in his life and how much he truly needs it when doing one of the hardest jobs imaginable. Can love born during fire season continue burning bright, or will it all turn into ash?

This is the first book in a new small town romance series featuring wildland firefighters in South Lake Tahoe. It's a grumpy x sunshine relationship between a cynical wildland firefighter and an optimistic Latina wildlife behaviorist. As neighbors there's forced proximity, care/sick scenes, and open door love scenes. It also features a hero that falls first and there's no third act breakup on the way to a happy ending.
