College professor Mickey Nelligan’s summer vacation plans are put on hold when her friend, Mary Beth McCurdy, a food stylist, bribes her to fill in for her missing assistant with a huge basket of freshly baked mini-muffins. Mickey agrees, for one day, but soon finds herself spending her precious vacation days in a studio kitchen in Manhattan, among photographers, prop stylists, editors, and a chef, Bruno Biali.
Bruno’s demand that a shoot be moved ahead of schedule, clashes with the reality that the studio kitchen is fully booked. He decides, instead, to move the shoot to Mickey’s newly renovated kitchen in New Jersey. At the same time, though, Mickey has a contractor onsite renovating an upstairs bathroom.
Dozens of people are on the property during the shoot, yet no one sees who stuck a chef’s knife into Bruno’s back.
