I'm Ceian, a displaced, on parole for crimes she didn't do, jinn. Also known as a genie. Or jeannie if you like that better. Living in a small coastal mountain town on Earth has been an adjustment.
Despite mayhem, murder, and bodies, my friends and I got my teahouse, The Fainting Goat Tea and Spice, up and taking customers.
For a month, things seemed to be settling down, the cute police detective wasn't glaring at me quite so much, and my teahouse was booming.
I needed the shop to succeed to show the folks who locked me up that I could be a functioning member of society--even if they weren't certain Earth counted as such.
Then some weird seabird came into town. And the bodies started falling again.
