But Duncan is betrayed by his best friend and the egg is taken by greedy Nessie hunter Linus Todd who wants to exploit it for vast sums of money. Sinister government scientists are also taking an interest in the egg, keen to experiment on it and keep the baby creature inside it in captivity.
Desperate to protect the egg, Duncan and his younger sister Catriona steal it back and go on the run across the Scottish Highlands. Todd and the police come after them, but can the youngsters evade the search and return the egg to the loch before it hatches?
