Is the US imperial project in decline? This book looks at the long history of American expansionism from the outset of Europe's colonization of the Americas up to the US's contemporary interventionist campaigns across the globe. Since the turn of the century, the US has exercised its military and economic power with impunity, funding and arming aggressive military campaigns of allies and invading countries at its discretion. During the same period, China has developed into a global economic competitor, outstripping the US on renewable industries and asserting itself as the center of the auto-industry. Comparing the US's imperial development to that of China, the book will look in particular at the mounting economic competition between the two countries in order to consider the likelihood of a US-China war - hot or cold.
