Dakota has finally settled into a comfortable routine. Her tattoo shop is busier than expected, yet she has more free time than she ever thought possible. Declan and Diesel have stayed in town for the past two months and Dakota has never been happier with their company.

The town’s annual two-day pet adoption event is coming up and Dakota and Declan both volunteered to help and donated services for the auction to raise money for local shelters. The night before the event, someone takes it upon themselves to free all the dogs from their kennels, causing the volunteers to spend their night chasing down a hundred dogs.

If that wasn’t bad enough, on the morning of the second day, Paisley, the event manager, goes to check on the animals. She finds each one accounted for and comfortably resting. But what she sees next, she hadn’t prepared for. Someone stuffed a dead body inside one of the smaller kennels; a body belonging to a person Dakota had tattooed three days earlier.

Finding herself a suspect in yet another murder, will Dakota be able to track down the real killer or will she be the one who ends up in a kennel needing someone to rescue her?
