Ah, traveler… come closer. Sit by the fire. Hear my story.

I sing of a time when peace was the dream of madmen. When the whole earth was a battlefield, and the grass turned red from blood-soaked soil. Those unlucky to be born knew only rampaging hordes, empty bellies, and the stench of plague. Men changed their gods as easily as their cloaks, praying for a single day without fear.

The gods heard. And they laughed.

At me, most of all. I longed to be a righteous man — but they cursed me with a hunger for blood. So I hunted the wicked, telling myself that if I killed only the deserving, hell's flames might spare me.

I was a fool. Because while I hunted, hell hunted me.

It sent someone whose name I dare not speak, lest she awaken again. She waits in the abyss where time rots and light cannot escape. Her ink is blood. Her servants are things that even nightmares forbid.

Let me sing to you about our dance of death. It is a tale so blighted, even the gods dare not remember it. But know that once you hear it, you will never dream the same.

And may your dreams never bleed into your days, traveler.
