Feisty, independent, architectural designer Tara Adams finds herself homeless, alone, and blackballed just days after dumping her boyfriend. No one appears to care that she caught him cheating nor that he was a first-class mooch. Sad and disillusioned, Tara goes home for Christmas in Wyoming, where she was loved unconditionally, or so she thought. Taking a risky chance and driving in the dead of winter, she finds herself stranded with a flat tire and her spare looking worse. Finally, she arrives home only to have her car repeatedly vandalized, and then frame her for a crime she has not defense against.
The Sheriff, Chase Nichols, is intrigued and disapproving when he sees the spunky woman with New York plates stranded on the side of the highway. He gets her to the nearest garage but later finds the woman he can't get out of his mind has a troubling final destination-the same house he is presently staying. When she begins to find herself in much more trouble, he has no thought but to assist, if she will let him.
As they get closer to solving the mystery, Chase makes it clear he is interested in more than solving her case but is Tara’s heart so easily mended?
