Stranger in Lavender

The clock is ticking for Darrell Hammond, who has spent over a decade in a future Dallas where the great city, like others in the country, hovers under protective shields as the terrorist wars go on. An agent for Zan Alston's super company, he has submerged his life in the struggle against his country's enemies and to secure time-locked Lavender, the peaceful little Texas town stepping slowly through the early years of the twentieth century, a secret that terrorist powers would love to possess as a weapon of violence. On April first, he is scheduled to return to his own home and a blessedly ordinary life, but it's only December--almost Christmas--and he must first go to Lavender to celebrate the marriage of his friend and protege. And that's where, with time running out he begins to fall in love with the red-haired diva who is a best friend of the bride, knowing that they can never have a future together.
