Those Who Mourn

For gravely wounded David James Johnson returning to the small colorful city where he grew up is less pleasure than punishment. Feeling that he is a wreck of his old self, he doesn't look forward to seeing pity on the faces of old friends who once held such high expectations for him. But he is Grandpa's closest living relative and he owes the old man so much that he reluctantly considers the summons only to find changes at home as well as in himself. The sweet scent of spring flowers haunts the picturesque old town library and he feels the invisible presence of someone--a very feminine someone who seems to be trying to get a message across to him that he and his grandfather are in grave danger.
