A story based loosely on the author's own family. Kathleen's father dies a bankrupt and when she emerges from the orphanage she is drawn into the events of the 1916 Easter Rising and becomes connected with the Abbey Theatre. There follow two marriages, a lover and a lot of joy and heartache.
