Dreaming of a better life

All single-mom Kasmira Brenton needs is one good break. One good opportunity to increase her six-year-old daughter's, Reese, chances for a better life. Unfortunately that chance comes at the cost of losing her mother. While Mira is sorting through her mother's belongings, Mira finds documents that will change her life forever. It isn't the name of the father she never knew, but $500,000!
Mira decides to use the money to move out of their crime-ridden neighborhood, quit her dead-end job, put her daughter in a private school and attend college herself. Mira is settling into her new life and adjusting to college. The thing that has her heart doing double time is her handsome study partner with gorgeous green eyes... ..

A simple assignment

It is supposed to be a simple assignment for DEA agent Patrick Callahan. The set up seemed too good to be true. Observe a Mexican druglord's daughter and report if there is a family reunion. Simple, right? Patrick figures it's a no-brainer, since women usually fall into his arms due to his good looks thanks to his Irish and African-American roots. But once he sets eyes on the beauty of Kasmira, he realizes he's a goner. Her shy smile, her unwillingness to take him as anything more than a study buddy is unnerving Patrick. Every time he attempts to get closer to Kasmira, he feels as horny as a teenager and about as nervous. He was going to have to do something fast or he was going to break his own rule: never fall in love with a suspect. Will Patrick be able to save Mira from the father she never knew and help her discover the love she never had?
