Defiant Ones: Sybil Ludington
(2026)(The fifth book in the Defiant Ones series)
A Story by Heather Blanton
History remembers the soldiers. It's time to remember the women who fought for liberty alongside them.
Before the American Revolution changed a nation, sixteen-year-old Sybil Ludington was already discovering that courage means answering the call, even when the road ahead is dark.
Growing up in the shadow of war, Sybil is fearless in the saddle and fiercely devoted to her family. But as tensions rise across New York, the danger comes frighteningly close to home. Her father, Colonel Henry Ludington, has become such a threat to the British that a bounty is placed on his head, forcing Sybil to confront the reality that the fight for liberty may demand more from her than she ever imagined.
Then, on a storm-soaked April night, word arrives that British forces are burning Danbury and her father's scattered militia must be called back to arms. With no rider available and no time to lose, Sybil knows what she must do.
Mounting her beloved horse, Star, she rides into the darkness, battling torrential rain, treacherous roads, dangerous strangers, and her own fears as she races from home to home sounding the alarm. With every mile, Sybil clings to her faith and discovers that bravery isn't the absence of fear. It's trusting God enough to keep riding through it.
