Many magicians cloak their art in dark mystery but J. H. Brennan regards Low Magic as fun and High Magic as safe - provided students remember that they are working with an extremely potent system. The approach is practical rather than academic, and readers will find several intriguing magical experiments which they can try for themselves. In the first part ofhis book the author explains some ofthephenomena found in Low (or lesser) Magic. These include the ouija board, astral and etheric bodies, the chakras, the aura, the Qabalah, wood nymphs and leprechauns, mantra chanting, water and ghost divining. He also divulges how to employ the laws of magic in success ful creative imagination - including the L note trick. The second part of the book introduces the more high-powered system of High Magic. The correct mental preparation before undertaking ritual magic is disclosed, together with information on establishing Inner Plane contact. Detailed rituals are given for assuming a god- form and achieving the almost unbelievable - a state of iuvisibili4r. (A reversal ritual for regaining visibility is also provided). Of special interest is J. H. Brennans own experience when he was present at a rare and spectacular magical rite - evocation to visible appearance, or the attempt to raise a spirit entity. One of the greatest obstacles to magical experimentation is a wide spread human ailment - tension. Even people who maintain that they are perfectly relaxed can exhibit a habit pattern of tension. To counter this the book provides a relaxation routine designed to make the subject aware of bodily tensions and eliminate them by a combination of muscular exercise and special breathing techniques.
