My life is guided by Lady Fate’s benevolent hand. Now, she’s asking me to kill.
Visions are changeable things, offering a future that may not come to pass. But with Fate’s guidance, I will see this one through. The reign of terror wrought by the fae lord Heillonmaster of the Lumière, a fae circus troupe of outcasts and malevolent Crieransends with me.
There’s only one problem. In order to breach the walls of his castle, I need to give up the memory of my vision. Left with no knowledge of my true purpose to guide me, I can only use the whispers of Fate to lead me through a path shrouded in darkness, all while pretending I’m one of the enemy.
Now, Heillon has given me an impossible task, and locked me away with the one fae who truly hates me: the trapeze artist, Farrath. Sealed together with no way out, Farrath makes it clear with every breath that he’s determined to see me fail. Or worse.
But as our forced partnership draws on, I start to wonder if Heillon isn’t the only one playing games. The castle holds secrets written in a daemon tongue, Farrath’s hatred starts to taste like fear, and I’m beginning to think this task is more of a punishment. A punishment for a crime I can’t remember.
If I’m to win these games of Fate, I have to know who to trust. Is Farrath my enemy? Or is our destiny bound by something far greater?
