Consolidating power creates an alluring prize for ruthless despots to fight over, and sooner or later an autocrat grabs it and holds on like a Rottweiler. No checks, no balances. Raw power is concentrated in one place, where the most ruthless can seize it to dominate other human beings. Our nation's guiding principle is limited government, and socialism is its opposite. Socialism is un-American. Socialism violates natural rights, the founding principles, the Constitution, and our culture.
