The papers have been gathered from a variety of sources and include some previously unpublished pieces (eg "The White Bird"). John Berger is an influential art critic and cultural historian, well-known for his TV series and book "Ways of Seeing". He won the 1972 Booker Prize for his novel "G". He has also written "Pig Earth", a collection of short stories, poems and sketches about life in a French peasant community.
