Death is messy. Resurrection is worse.
Agnes Harper - part time medium, full time disaster - is a probationary necromancer for the Mages' Council, barely keeping her head above water while tethered ghosts whisper from the shadows and her haunted past knocks louder than the landlady. But when a politician with angelic charm and apocalyptic ambitions climbs too close to power, Agnes is forced into a deadly bargain with an archangel known for smiting first and asking questions never.
Now armed with celestial fire and hexed switchblade, Agnes must navigate ghosts, gods, and government conspiracies while protecting the woman she loves and trying not to die again - this time, for good.
Set in a world where necromancy meets queer romance, and death is just another door waiting to be kicked down, The Necromancer is a darkly funny, fiercely magical urban fantasy full of grit, grief, and a hell of a lot of heart.
Joshua Bader really nails the "monster of the week meets metaphysical research" vibe. It's like Supernatural had a baby with The Magicians and gave it a queer, thoughtful heart.
