The Vicar\'s Daughter

The Vicar's Daughter

A Novella by

Miss Grace Aubrey, a vicar's daughter, encounters the very drunk Earl of Hatton on a lonely country lane and soon determines he is a broken man. When he befriends her, she encourages him to improve his estate. As their relationship blossoms, Grace makes the fatal mistake of declaring her love for him, which sends him back to London and his old habits.

Trenton Hatton, Earl of Hatton, comes home from war unscathed, at least physically. However, as memories of battles haunt him, Trent spends most of his days drinking and gambling. Banished by his father, the Marquess, to rusticate in the country, Trent finds Grace a welcomed distractio, and she helps him find a purpose for living again. However, as his light flirtation develops into something deeper, he fears hurting Grace and so returns to his former scandalous lifestyle. Still, he cannot banish her from his mind, and when she arrives in to London for the Season, sparks fly as he's unable to resist seeking her out.
