Max Brand® is the name by which American author Frederick Faust is best known and loved. He is the widely acclaimed author of stories and novels in every genre, and the creator of Destry, Dr. Kildare™, and many other beloved fictional characters. Born in Seattle in 1892 and orphaned early, he grew up in rural California. Eighty motion pictures have been based on his work, which is roughly the equivalent of 530 books. He abandoned his career at 51 to become a war correspondent in World War II and was killed while serving in Italy.
