Growth isn’t something that is easily accomplished when you can’t move on from your past. DeMarco and Taraji attempt to make those leaps and bounds, but things are proving to be more difficult when not only their relationship being tested, but also having to deal with their own individual mental strains.
For Taraji, she loves everything about DeMarco, even though their relationship went from fun and exciting to serious and dedicated overnight. However, while still attempting to find the answers to her parent’s unresolved murders, she comes face to face with lies, secrets, and more pain. Her unresolved emotions could prove to be a problem for her relationship, even though she tries to stay in control.
DeMarco simply wants to be the father his daughter, Mia, needs, and the man Taraji desires. However, Mia’s mom comes strutting into his life, making things way more difficult than they need to be. On top of that, the streets are always calling, and things always need to be handled. There are always enemies to be dealt with and snakes in the grass waiting for DeMarco’s downfall – something that will never happen.
Nevaeh and Quentin are still trying to work through their own secrets, betrayals, and lies. However, the past keeps pulling them in and causing them both to exhibit emotions that leaves the other baffled. All they need is understanding and patience, but that isn’t something that is easily achieved.
These two couples find it easy to get lost in love, but the outside world comes along at every chance to take shots at their foundation. All they can hope for is that they’ve built a solid enough base to withstand it all.
