In the not so distant future, take a humorous romp through a Florida retirement community fenced off and fenced in. Play a little golf, have some booze, and watch for wild dogs as you flip meat substitute on the grill. You might laugh at what’s happened, or you might not, it’s up to you.

The world made “great” by ignorance is in trouble. Unstoppable climate effects rage, pandemics have come and gone while others wait in the wings, and Oligarchs rule. Observed by residents of a retirement community, life on Earth hangs in the balance. Can gates, razor wire, contact tracing, and drone security save them from extinction?

An AI flown hybrid airliner heading to Orlando crash lands on a golf course in the center of Florida’s severed peninsula. Although their retirement community is isolated, residents golf, have social events, and shop at malls. These days they survive on protein grown in vertical farms, micro-filtered hydration drinks, and alcohol. One area inside the gates is reserved for service workers. After the crash we’re treated to a microcosm of a world on the brink. Perhaps it’s time retirees and everyone else heed the ancient wisdom of George Carlin, “We’re going away. Pack your shit, folks.”
