It's wartime, and on the island of Eulalie, Michael and Fleur Revel are doing their part. Michael is Sergeant-Major of the local army post and Fleur is helping out at a dress store. But when murder attacks the island, including one victim who's discovered under the wheels of the Revel's car, the young couple soon gets embroiled in a plot to sink a troopship, instigated by traitors from within. The two find themselves pursued by a fiendish "Mr. X", an unknown spy who doesn't hesitate to kill anyone in his way. It looks grim for the Allies as their invisible foe seemingly moves from victim to victim at will. But maybe there's a clue to his identity? Some secret message hidden in the weekly poetry readings on the local radio? Leave it to Michael Revel to find it.
