It’s New Year's Eve, and time for a glitzy party! Lorelei French and her date will be making the two-hour drive from her coffee shop, French Roast, in Wildborne, WI, to help with the festivities, since her mom, Oneida - the hostess with the mostest - had a nasty fall and broke her ankle, just before Christmas.
Before horns can be tooted, and Auld Lang Syne can be sung however, a guest collapses and cannot be revived. Between the death at the party and Oneida suspecting that her fall was no accident, the duo’s mother/daughter bonding time turns into a sleuthing affair. When Latte, Lorelei’s eerily prescient cat, stands guard outside Oneida’s room, Lorelei knows that she has to hurry and solve the mystery…before someone tries to attack her mother again.
