This volume brings together those poems in English which Beckett is willing to preserve. It also contains a few poems written originally in French and translated into English by the author. They cover a twenty-year period, from the dramatic monologue "Whoroscope" (1930) to the bi-lingual "Quatre Poemes," the last of which dates from 1948. This collection was first published by Grove Press in 1963, and re-issued in 1970 in a volume under a new series title, "The Collected Works of Samuel Beckett."
