He wanted to rule the world. Now he’s stuck selling succulents.

After a stint in prison, disgraced supervillain Barty Bartholomew, AKA, The Botanist just wants to return to his rightful place: causing eco-chaos, feeding man-eating vines, and maybe punching a few heroes in the face. Instead, he’s repotting ferns at Green Thumbs—a plant nursery that hires ex-cons.

But villainy dies hard. When a burner phone and a cryptic message from his old hacker friend Pixel reignite his grudge against former allies and enemies alike, Bart can’t resist waging a petty, passive-aggressive war on his old nemesis Crab Man—a crustacean-themed hero whose head is as hard as his exoskeleton. Soon Bart’s stirring up rumors, violating parole by using his plant-based powers, and humiliating heroes with viral videos, all while pretending he’s just another reformed citizen.

Told through court-ordered journal entries, Once a Villain… is a chaotic, laugh-out-loud ride through one man’s reluctant redemption. Part antihero comedy, part emotional growth spurt wrapped in a radioactive fig leaf, it’s a story of second chances, super-shenanigans, and learning to love the life you never wanted.

Sometimes the treasure you seek is just a paycheck and peace of mind.
