Broom for One More
(2027)(Book 13 in the Wicked Witches of Coventry series)
A novel by Sara Bourgeois
Brighton Skeenbauer didn’t mean to invite the dead over for Halloween. Her daughter just liked the pumpkin.
An old ceramic jack-o’-lantern seems like a harmless estate-sale purchase. Kinsley loves its grin, and Brighton knows exactly where to put it.
Then she lights the candle inside.
The first ghost knocks politely. The second comes through the kitchen wall and greets Meri like an old friend. Judging by her familiar’s reaction, she has stories Brighton very much wants to hear.
Apparently, Brighton has agreed to host a Halloween party. Blowing out the candle does not cancel the invitation.
With three dead guests making themselves comfortable, Brighton returns to the estate for answers. Instead, she finds the former owner’s son murdered and his grieving sister facing some uncomfortable questions.
Brighton was at the sale. She heard the arguments. And she’s beginning to suspect that several people went home with more than they paid for.
With Annika’s help, she starts untangling the quarrels and lies surrounding the victim''s last afternoon. At home, the chairs keep moving, frost is creeping across the mirror, and her attempts to decorate have given Meri something else to complain about.
Brighton would like to give her family a happy Halloween. First, she needs to catch a killer and figure out how to say goodbye to guests she never invited.
Meri would appreciate it if she started with the one telling stories...
Genre: Cozy Mystery
