Digging Up Murder
(2026)(The second book in the Books and Brews Cozy Mystery series)
A novel by Tara Benton
When a dead man's bones are uncovered in the basement of a fixer-upper, the renovation is the least of everyone's problems.
Julie Miller traded her spreadsheets for a small town bookshop, one observant cat, and what she hoped would be a quieter life. She was wrong. When neighbor Ryan's renovation job uncovers human remains, Julie has to dig deeper. For two years everyone assumed Jacob Hartley had moved away. Nobody knew he was murdered. And the killer is counting on nobody finding out why.
The victim's nephew is less interested in justice than in the inheritance he's convinced he's owed. A real estate agent made sure Jacob's house sold cheaply after he vanished. And Ryan, who worked on the victim's house around the time of the murder, sits squarely in the detective's crosshairs.
When the house is broken into and Julie is threatened at a public meeting, it's obvious someone is still searching for a secret worth killing for. Julie has to find it - before she becomes a missing person.
