(Book 19 in the Windy Bay series)
A novel by

Allegra Jackson thinks she has the perfect life until she loses her job, her nanny and her husband to his pregnant mistress on one awful day. What she does have is a cottage in Windy Bay that she inherited and planned to use as a holiday home, so she and her son and daughter flee down there while she tries to work out what to do next. She’s almost there when a severely depressed man tries to kill himself by walking out in front of her car; which is not at all the way she wanted to introduce herself to her new neighbours.

Her husband has removed the children from their expensive private school so she enrolls them at the Little School, and they both begin to make new friends, and in her case, rekindle a friendship with one of her friends’ husbands after she asks him to keep a look out for him now that she has, as Lia puts it, returned Silas Deacon to the wild after he fell in love with a local smallholding.

As her new life comes together, Allie begins to build something that won’t turn out to be too good to be true, but it’s definitely complicated.
